Details & Itinerary

Drumcliffe in County Sligo is the location of W. B.Yeats’ Grave with Benbulben table-top mountain behind., County Sligo is set against the striking backdrop of the Benbulben Mountains.

Yeats’s grave is in the church yard with the inscription,

“cast a cold eye on life, on death, horseman, pass by.”

Yeats wanted “no marble, no conventional phrase” and it is his own epitaph. Within the churchyard, there is also a high cross and nearby is a 6th Century Columbian monastery.

There is also a coffee shop and craft shop within the area with home-made items and local quality crafts.

Yeats' Grave

Mullaghmore is a beautiful coastal village with a gorgeous beach. The village has 2 hotels/pubs – The Beach Hotel and the Pier Head and The Harbour Cafe.

Enjoy a pint of guinness or have a meal in one of the restaurants overlooking the busy harbour on the Wild Atlantic Way whilst watching the fishing boats come in and out, children playing in the water, surfers gathering to ride a wave, divers getting their equipment on to head out.

Mullaghmore beach

Slieve League Cliffs with their highest point at 609m are some of the highest sea cliffs in Europe looking over The Atlantic Ocean.

We will either drive you to the stunning viewing area at the top of the cliffs or you can walk from the car-park.

When the sky is clear, you can across to Sligo and Leitrim and down to the mountains at Mayo.

Only experienced hikers are recommended to walk to the highest point of Slieve League along One Man’s Pass pathway which is a very narrow path.

Spent a wonderful day traveling the area searching up sites and cemeteries related to our ancestors. Our guide Kean was friendly and knowledgeable, helping us track down out-of-the-way places, and sharing history as well as beautiful views. We highly recommend him and Sligo Tours.

Highly recommend Sligo Tours , we was a party of 34 over for the weekend to play football. From the word go Denise was brilliant in helping to organise all the pick ups and activities we had , our drivers for the weekend where Gavin , Eugene and Roland all 3 of them was brilliant with us , arrived 15 mins early for every pick up we had booked , very polite men , and also had a laugh with us all . Very helpful advising us on places to visit and eat . The whole experience we had with Sligo Tours was brilliant . We will definitely be booking again if we come back .

My husband and I spent an outstanding day on the Benbulben Tour with Sligo Tours and it was one of the top highlights of our trip to Ireland. Our driver, Kean, was wonderful in sharing his appreciation and knowledge of this beautiful place. Every stop was interesting and the conversation great! We enjoyed ourselves immensely thanks to Kean and the beauty of Sligo. I would like to add that Denise was great to work with in coordinating dates and time. We added a transfer to Westport the following day and Kean generously suggested a few options for stops along the way vs a straight ride. We stopped at the Museum of Country Life and it was fantastic-beautiful gardens and a really interesting, accessible collection.

Eugene tailored our trip to our need for something shorter and more manageable for us and still hit all the best scenery and tucked away spots. Excellent knowledge and engagement.

We booked the Yeats Benbulben tour and cannot recommend it highly enough. Eugene picked us up at our hotel and from the moment we met him, we knew we were in great hands. He grew up in Sligo, so his knowledge is unmatched — but it was his kindness, humor, and easygoing nature that made the day truly special. The landscapes were stunning, the stories were fascinating, and the whole experience felt like exploring with a friend who loves showing off his home. If you’re visiting Sligo, this tour is an absolute must‑do. And definitely ask Eugene about Gaelic football. We left as full‑blown fans.

If I could give Denise and our driver Eugene 100 ⭐, I would! Another local tour company wouldn't even return my email and Denise saved the day! We did the Slieve League tour from Sligo and it was wonderful! Eugene took us to places that were not on the itinerary so we could see more of this beautiful country as well as dropped us off as close as he could bc of my friend's bad knee. He have us tons of info and answered a million questions patiently and with humor. I can't give them a higher recommendation and I will definitely be back!
